Brookfield Farm Calendar 2010

  • All Farm Events & Tours (in bold type) are open to all shareholders and their guests.  Feel free to bring along anyone interested.  All events will have suitable activities for small children (usually a very safe fun wagon ride around the farm).
  • Our Farm Crew works Monday through Friday from 6 am until 5 pm. If you ever want to come lend a hand, feel free to show up at the barn at 8 am or 1 pm and we’ll find good work for you to do.  No need to call ahead. If you want more info, send an email to info@brookfieldfarm.org
  • Monday, March 15 Start first seeds in the Greenhouse!
    Onions, leeks, lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, and flowers.
    Thursday, April 1 Farm Crew (apprentices) arrive – time to get to work!
    Saturday, May 22, 8am - 12pm Spring Planting & Spring Cleaning Day - Come help us plant in the flower & herb garden or help get the Farm Shop cleaned up for season. We'll have snacks & tea and a good ol time getting ready for the distribution season to come!

    Strawberry Dessert Party! - Bring a strawberry dessert and some food to share. You could also bring dinner if you'd like. Bring enough food for 12 people!
    Wagon Rides, fun for kids, and great eating!

    Edible Wild Plants of the Northeast - a nature walk with Naturalist John Root
    meet at the Farm Shop. Wild food samples will be offered, and pamphlets will be distributed to participants. Free Admission, All Ages Welcome

    Garlic Harvest & Art Behind The Barn - Help us pull this year's crop from the ground to the barn (starting at 10am), and check out Brookfield Farm's own community Craft Fair. For information on how to participate with your wares - contact Rosie at: rosieapearson@gmail.com

    Farm Tour - Join us as we give a tour of our entire operation for the Northeast Organic Farmers Association Summer Conference. Assistant Manager, Kerry Manire will give you a behind the scenes look at how we make things happen here at Brookfield Farm.

    Pumpkin Harvest Party - Help us harvest all of our pumpkins from the patch from 10:30 -11am, then pick out your pumpkin and take a wagon ride around the farm. A fun time for all ages (don't be late, this goes very quickly with lots of people!)

    Potato Harvest & Cookout - Come help dig our potatoes and then we'll roast a bunch around the fire (back at the farm).

    Harvest Dinner and BFCT Annual Meeting - At the S. Amherst Congregational Church - Join us for the annaul hoopla of fun, food, and good company! (please note, due to the regulations of the host site, this event is alcohol-free this year....)
